SOme Sweet Spots:

  • Life transitions & wayfinding

  • Grief

  • Anxiety

  • Relationships

  • Career fulfillment

  • Leadership-and-confidence related issues

About Jen’s Style:

  • Systems-oriented: I believe that our “systems” – meaning the people and places we spend the most time with/in (i.e family, school, workplace) - affect how we perceive situations, behave, and navigate relationships. Considering concerns through a systems-lens can provide valuable insights and perspectives to help us understand why we do what you do, and how we can make even more self-affirming choices.

  • Expressive arts enthusiast: To me, it’s magical how expressive arts can help us get in touch with our inner wisdom (and our inner child!) - in a way everyday rational thinking simply cannot. I’m a big fan of integrating evidence-based, expressive arts (ex: journaling, coloring, music, collage, dance and beyond) to help you discover “a-has” that you may not otherwise be able to encounter or discover.

  • Strengths-based: You have a unique constellation of existing values, talents, preferences, and passions that can – will! - help support you in navigating your current circumstances. Illuminating this inner-well of strength and wisdom (…it’s in there!) will help inform the therapeutic “tools” and “techniques” that best align with your most authentic-self.

  • Laughter, lavender & lattes: There are a few of my favorite things - and I’ll want to know yours too! Why? Because there is great therapeutic power in discerning and honoring the everyday preferences, rituals, and self-care practices that culminate in our very own personal “recipe for resilience.”

Therapeutic Approach:

I see nature – with its ever-changing weather and seasons – as a metaphor for life. Being amid a dry or difficult season can make us feel anywhere from impatient and anxious, to scared and sad…to just plain stuck. I believe my role as a therapist is to companion you through those tough, tender, and uncertain seasons, and instill a sense of hope; to meet you where you are now, and help you move forward in a way that inspires possibility, healing, and growth. Together, in a warm, encouraging environment - infused with compassion, curiosity, humor and creativity - we’ll explore your story, set practical goals, and co-create a path towards a next season that feels better. And, we’ll even manage to laugh along the way too!

In my free time, I enjoy being in nature, seeing live music, cooking for loved ones, and watching heartfelt shows ranging from This is Us to Ted Lasso. Other things that bring me joy include: Road-tripping, a nerdy game of Scrabble, having root-beer taste tests with my three nephews, and playing with my precious, rascal of a pup, Henri. I’m enamored with honey bees and birds, and a sucker for all-things-nostalgic, ranging from drive-in movies and dance halls, to historic B&Bs and Big Band music.

Professional BACKGROUND:

I grew up in Ohio, then headed West for college where I graduated from Stanford University with a liberal arts degree. I spent the next twenty years in the tech start-up world, leading creative teams, driving workplace culture initiatives, and coaching professionals ranging from execs to mid-managers. As a people-oriented leader, I was always passionate about helping colleagues and worker bees find meaning and in their work.

My passion for professional growth and coaching inspired me to earn my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX - a program celebrated for its progressive approach to spirituality’s role in the therapeutic process. I’ve been honored to work 1:1 with adults, adolescents, and their families, as well as at Austin Center for Grief & Loss where I’ve co-facilitated everything from divorce support groups to Camp Red Bird – a kids’ grief camp. While I now love helping individuals and families enrich their personal lives, the many years I’ve spent in goal-oriented environments makes my therapeutic-style one that organically works well with those who are curious, motivated, and value personal growth.
