Get to Know Tracy:

Tracy is a nerd and weirdo, and proud of it. Nerds and weirdos don’t always come in the same shapes and packages. For Tracy, she expresses this part of herself through an avid love of fantasy, magical worlds, and intense creativity. She loves her inner world of imagination, and bringing her two boys along for the exciting ride. Singing is another love and soul-nurturing aspect of Tracy’s life. She is a 10+ year member of Tapestry Singers, a choir for women. She is also part of their a cappella group, Loose Threads. She served as president to the board, among other board and committee roles past and present. Fun facts: During undergrad and grad school, Tracy was a nanny to a musical family with two gifted kids and provided voice lessons to middle school students.

Therapeutic Approach:

Tracy is a passionate and creative therapist who you can get real with. Tracy primarily works with young adults, adults, parents, and professionals. She enjoys helping her clients learn more about themselves and find everyday happiness, peace and acceptance in their lives.

Tracy has spent the last decade dedicated to learning about the gifted (gifted and talented / GT) population and their unique and intricate social & emotional landscape and development. Growing up with the GT label herself, Tracy has personal and firsthand experience with the highs and lows that accompany a complex gifted mind. Growing up gifted is not easy. The word itself is often problematic and deserves space to be unpacked. Tracy believes that with each client she connects with, it is important to find the unique human within the gifted label.

You can count on Tracy to weave in humor, imagination, and even playfulness into sessions, as well as mindfulness, compassion, and full acceptance. She thrives upon the meaningful and magnificent connections she makes with her clients and the world at large.

Professional Background:

Tracy's education in psychology and counseling began at the University of Texas at Austin and continued at St. Edward's University where she graduated with honors. In her early work at Austin Child Guidance Center, Tracy honed her skills in trauma and attachment work, family systems and parenting for 7 years with the agency before embarking on full-time private practice. From 2012-2016, Tracy provided consultation and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) education to the students, parents, and faculty of Magellan International School. Tracy also created an individualized SEL curriculum for the international baccalaureate school, which was integrated into their classrooms through workshops and small group teaching. One of Tracy’s most pivotal deep dive trainings was with ADHD expert, James Ochoa, LPC. Through this immersive and intensive training, Tracy honed in on her specialty and passion with the ADD/ADHD population. In addition to specific training with the ADHD, population, Tracy has focused her ongoing training on Internal Family Systems, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Relational Therapy, Systems-Work, and giftedness.

Tracy is a current member of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the Austin Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and Austin InConnection. She is a licensed supervisor for LPC Associates and LMFT Associates. Tracy utilizes her supervisory skills for support and training of the GT Therapy team. She is not accepting supervisees at this time. Tracy values her long-term work with clients who see her through many different stages and ages. She also immensely enjoys short-term work through her hour-long “strategy sessions” that target specific questions about giftedness, what support may be helpful at this juncture, and other considerations to factor in the big picture.
